The Fatea Showcase Sessions are designed to provide greater exposure to artists that have impressed the Fatea team. Some are already signed, others are carving a solo trail, releasing songs on their own labels, all are dedicated to their music

Fatea Showcase Sessions are exclusively available for a three month period after which they will never be available again. The Fatea Showcase Sessions are zip files containing high quality, 256kbs, drm free, mp3s.

The writers/performers have put money, time and effort into creating the songs on this compilation for your enjoyment. Fatea hopes that this compilation gives you a taste for folk and roots orientated music and that you will seek out the works of the artists included in this compilation and in the wider music community.”

“Maelstrom” is dedicated to all acts from solo artists, through duos to bands. Each act has their own style and we hope you’ll appreciate each of their efforts. The Fatea Showcase Sessions are designed so not all of the acts come from the same genre. “Maelstrom” is available from February 1st to April 30th

Emma Gale – Go As I Am

Emma Gale cut her teeth as a cover’s singer based in Cambridgeshire and moved to Dorset in the early 2000s. Influenced by songwriters like Suzanne Vega, Sheryl Crow, Leonard Cohen and Gilbert O’Sullivan, she decided to move away from singing cover songs and learn how to write songs. This opened up the world of songwriting for Emma.

The Low Drift – Deadwood

Friends in music Emma Thorpe, Matt Hill and Huw Costin come together to write songs about the land. The beauty and the concrete, the mysteries and the folklore. Their self-titled album is about family, childhood and the memories that landscapes evoke.

Becky Dellow – Rolling Wave

Becky Dellow is a fiddle player and musicologist from Gloucestershire who comes from a paternal line of English fiddle players going back at least to her great-great-Grandfather, Thomas Hampton, (b1844), whose handwritten fiddle tunebook inspires Becky’s music.

Jeremy Squires – Omens

New Bern, North Carolina native Jeremy Squires is a singer-songwriter best known for his haunting melodies and evocative lyrics. Squires carries in his voice the undeniable charms of the small Southern city, as well as a darker, haunted undercurrent. The occasional chill can and should be expected when listening to this talented songsmith.

Open Water – Waiting For The Daylight

Open Water are steeped in the British Folk Tradition with influences of Celtic and American Bluegrass. Joanne Doolan’s unique vocals emanate from her Welsh musical roots. Jeff’s influences come from traditions as varied as the Renaissance lute and flamenco guitar. Richard’s influences stem from rock, blues and jazz traditions.

Isle ‘ave A Shanty – Fishermen Of Ely

Isle ‘Ave A Shanty are based on the Isle of Ely. They are a rarity in being a sea shanty band from a landlocked county but they bring their own style to traditional songs and songs they made up themselves, often influenced by surrounding fens.

Hunz – Honey

Hunz hail from the North Wales coast. Formed towards the end of 2021 they released their debut single in December, with “Honey” following. Rosie’s avant garde/jazz background paired  with the funk/country/ folk  influences make Hunzz an eclectic mix of sounds.

Compared to the likes of The Trees and Spirogyra, there is a spiritual element to the music of five piece folk rock band Eve And The Garden. Fronted by songwriter, Alison Eve, the band released “Breathe” as a single marking their return with hints of more to come.

Sarah Dearlove – Brown Paper Bag

Sarah Dearlove is passionate about electro piano driven songs and she plays with elegance and flair. Her performances are influenced by Tori Amos and Kate Bush and Sarah’s songs take us on a journey through her mind, her highs and lows, love and loss and into a theatrical world of story telling through song.

Dom Prag – South Medomsley Strike

Carnan – Calmac Kenny

Carnan is an upcoming and energetic Scottish indie folk band with a funkier take on “trad”. Formed in 2020 by two musicians from the highlands, the indisputable synergy of lively accordion (Louden Mackay) backed by thunderous guitar (Arthur Brook) gives the duo a powerful and driven sound.

Siena Christie is a country-folk singer-songwriter and an avid truth seeker. Often compared to artists like Jewel, Alison Krauss, and Kate Bush, her sound consists of crystal-clear vocals free of affectation, melodies recalling age-old ballads, and vivid, empathically crafted lyrics.

Ringlefinch – Ophelia
